Now I Can See Better
I probably should schedule an appointment with an optometrist, but that would be an admission that I’m getting older. I used to be quite proud of the fact that I was the only one in my family that didn’t wear glasses and that I had excellent eye-sight, both long and short distance. I used to be able to read road signs 1.5 times or more further away than others could. And reading books at a normal distance was fine – even ones with tiny print.
Not so anymore. I’ve noticed that there are times when I have difficulty threading tippet through some small hook eyes – just can’t see them very well sometimes. And I’ve noticed that when fly tying, there have been times I haven’t been able to see some finer materials well, especially when trying to tie them down.
So the other day I was visiting The First Cast in Guelph and saw a “Magniflier.” Handy to have at the fly tying bench – and I can see much better.
