Ninth Canadian Fly Fishing Championships Announced

Fly Fishing Canada has announced that the 9th Canadian Fly Fishing Championships will be held near Montibello, Quebec in 2011.  Scheduled for October 17-22, the competition will be held at the Fairmont Kenauk resort, a 100 square mile area of wilderness that contains over 70 lakes.

Kenauk offers some fabulous fishing opportunities! Many of the lakes within the resort’s boundaries are stocked with rainbow trout that come from Kenauk’s own hatcheries.  According to Fly Fishing Canada’s President, Randy Taylor, “the “fishing is normally fast and furious that time of year.”

Readers may know that in 2007, I had the opportunity to visit Kenauk along with other members of Team Osprey.  We were there in the spring and enjoyed some stillwater fly fishing as well as the gorgeous scenery the area has to offer. I am sure that in October, the scenery will be even more stunning with the leaves changing to autumn colours.
