I Was Getting Excited…
… then a major winter storm hit. They say if it’s a Green Christmas, you can count on a White Easter. Looks like in our part of the world, that is what it is. And only three weeks away from Opening Day.
Well, I am excited and hoping this weather warms up soon! Yesterday evening, I drove down to Hook, Line & Sinker in Guelph – and managed to see Ray’s shop expansion for the first time. He’s added space which allowed him to substantially add product to his fly fishing line. Not only that, but every Wednesday night, there are free fly tying demonstrations for those that are interested in learning, or just want to ask some questions of some great fly tiers.
The wee fella, David – who will be turning 5 in August is at me just about everyday, “When is going to be time for fishing, Dad?” I keep telling him, “Soon!” Soon just can’t come fast enough when your an avid angler at 4 1/2 years old.
Which reminds me – still thinking about some ways I can get him into the mode of fly fishing. I used to have a bunch of old tip sections; I’m thinking if I can find one, that might work as far as seeing if he can get the hang of it.
Anyone else teach kids around 5 years old to fly cast?
