G. Loomis Fishing Rod Blanks
For those of you who are custom rod builders, it might be disappointing news to find out that as of January 2010, G. Loomis will no longer be offering fishing rod blanks. Many have come to love G. Loomis blanks over the years and they were often at the forefront of graphite technology development. Custom rod builders appreciated their product offerings.
Apparently, they will continue to honor their warranties, but instead of replacing a defective blank, they will replace it with a factory finished rod that is similar to the defective blank.
The founder of the company, Gary Loomis, sold the business to Shimano in 1997. Recently, Gary Loomis has become associated with North Fork Composites, along with his son Brad. Joining them is Jason Borger. More information about his at the North Fork blog.
