David Like’s His Beef
Well, that was fun.. or part of it, anyhow. As I wrote yesterday, David caught his first rainbow trout – and he was pretty excited to help me cook it up on the bbq.
But when it came time to eating it, he wasn’t so sure – he’s never really been much into eating fish, having a preference for beef. When it came time to serve it, he said, “No! I just wanted to catch it, help cook it, and let you eat it!”
But he did eat all his vegetables. And after a few forkfulls of lovely bbq’d rainbow trout, he seemed to not mind the taste so much, especially when there was some carrot added to the mouthful. Anyhow, it was still a great day with the little wee man. Hopefully I’ll be able to get him out a few more times and introduce him to the fly rod!
Which is something I’m wondering about… what age do others put a fly rod into the hands of their kids? He loves to fish – but I really don’t think he could handle a fly rod or casting one at this point. Any thoughts on this?
