Centrefold

Whoa….

Ian James called me on the phone today.  Told me to get myself out of the house, and pick up a copy of today’s Sunday Toronto Star.  Told me to look for a “fly fishing” picture.  Told me it is “classic.”  He told me to go “now!” as in, get thee to the local convenience store, and buy today’s Toronto Star print edition.  Browse and find fly fishing pictures.

I did so.  When Ian James, even though he is a Catholic, demands I do something, I usually follow through.

Today, I’m glad I did.  Today’s centrefol picture in Section A of The Toronto Star is Dil Perera.  I think I am in love with Dil Perera. I must meet Dil Perera.  Nothing is more sensual and sexy than a pretty woman standing in a river, waving a stick.  And Dil’s stick is bent.. does she have a fish on?

And Dil, not only holding a stick, while she stands in water, and the stick is bent – she’s downright pretty as well. Even with wearing waders.  Maybe partly because she is wearing waders.

She’s also part of a team that is going to be competing against my team, in the upcoming Canadian Fly Fishing Championships.  And from what I can see from the Toronto Star article, I’m already feeling a bit intimidated.  Chari Cohen, Brenda Ahearne, Sylvia D’Amelio, along with Dil and then Jeanne Jankins from PEI.. gosh..

Women in waders are so sexy.  When they are standing in water, holding a stick with a reel attached, well.. I’ve got butterflies now.

Chicks with flies.  Chicks with big smiles, flies, waders, and holding fly rods.  Hey, look at that.. that picture on the top right hand page.. both Sylvia and Dil’s left hand are visibile.. no ‘rocks’ on the third finger that I can see.

But of course, they may have removed any “rocks” for fear of spooking trout at The Franklin Club.

But whatever, what a gorgeous centrefold, and my subjective thoughts aside, I truly think it is wonderful that there is going to be an all “woman” team competing at the upcoming Canadian Fly Fishing Championships. Those women have my deepest respect, and I look forward to sharing the “brotherhood of the angle” with them.

But isn’t Dil just absolutely gorgeous, standing in the water like that?  I hope this team comes in second. I mean.. I hope MY team comes in first, but these lovely ladies come right behind us.

Oh man.. that centrefold.
