Leaders are a very important part of the fly angler’s line system. Attached to the thicker fly line, leaders are often tapered and then will have tippet added to it and the fly is tied on at the end.

Many anglers prefer custom tapers and furled leaders to turn over flies that are being cast to shy fish.
