Art Flick - Fly Fishing Author
Art Flick's books have long been considered a top authority on matching hatches and fly tying. Most of his works come from his time spent on the rivers of the Catskills Mountains of New York State. In fact, he is probably the first author to provide North American anglers with a definitive text on how to "match the hatch" while fishing on the river. Perhaps best known for his book, The Streamside Guide, Flick operated a boarding house and a tavern along a tributary of Schoharie Creek. This creek and the Little Westkill is where Flick did much of his fishing and studying the insects of the area, and how to best immitate them to lure the local trout.
Considered to be one of America's top fly tiers, some of his flies can be found at the Catskills Fly Fishing Museum.
