I haven’t done a lot of fly fishing for pike, but have caught the odd one. I’m only minutes from some pretty awesome rainbow trout, brown trout and smallmouth bass fly fishing, so I just haven’t really headed out to target pike specifically. But they sure are a lot of fun!

I just came across a blog by Simon Gaham who lives in Finland. His blog is entitled “Pike Fly Fishing Articles” and if you’re looking for new pike fly patterns, I’d encourage you to check it out! He’s got quite the arsenal of pike flies, including one unique and interesting fly that uses a condom. Simon was inspired by all the uses that condoms have in some countries, including the use of the lubricant in them as beauty product.

Even if you’re not into condom flies, you’ll appreciate Simon’s blog and all the other flies he has written about there.
