Good News!

As previously reported, Ian Colin James suffered a serious heart attack last week.  As a result, he had to undergo a triple by-pass operation.  I have not had a  chance to speak with him, but reports are that he is doing great and moving around veins and arteries after six hours of surgery did not affect Ian’s sense of humour.

He apparently told someone that during the operation, he saw Jesus – and Jesus was not using a bobber.

From what I understand, there were no reports of seeing any saints or Popes.

Anyhow, good news for those of us that know Ian James and his wonderful contributions to fly fishing here in Ontario.

I’ll update as future news comes available on Ian’s condition.  In the meantime, sheesh, I need to get out and do some fly fishing!

Crappy News!

For those know Ian James, you might want to be aware that he suffered a heart attack last week. He’s presently in hospital and I just spoke with him – he seems to be in good spirits but he had some nurses giving him some attention so I’m to call him back later.

I’ll find out what information I can pass along for those who want to send their well wishes to Ian. He’s scheduled to go under the knife sometime next week. Let’s hope for a swift recovery! What a way to get out of a promise to assist with some loch-style casting techniques!

Update:  Have had a chance to speak at greater length with Ian James – and although he is in good spirits, it was quite a serious heart attack that he suffered.

He’ll be going under the knife later this week.  I’m not sure if he can have non-family visitors at this point but I’ll continue to be in touch with him.
